Avoiding Door Knockers

I haven't had many experiences with late night knocks on my truck fortunately but when I have, I've had a hard time getting back to sleep.

Any advice for avoiding knocks on your door late at night? I'm guessing that if someone is bold enough to knock on your truck at 2am, they're probably just going to ignore one of those "no lot lizards" signs.

The couple of times I've experienced them, they were persistent and would knock until you got up so you couldn't just ignore them. They were actually in nicer, well lit truck stops also.

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

I have a Bluetooth stereo that my phone stays paired to. And on said phone I have lots of different sounds on an app... one of which is a shotgun raking a round.

The best I've seen was someone had cardboard over the windows instead of curtains.. On the cardboard was written in large letters.. NO Pretty straight forward and to the point I thought.

Obviously, I'm not the voice of experience here, but my first thought is to call 9-1-1 and report a prostitution offense, right there in front of the door knocker. If she doesn't care about interfering with your ability to do your (lawful and important) job, do you need to worry about interfering with her ability to do her illegal job?

It's not always a lizard. Homeless folks looking for a handout. Most truck stops aren't like the world famous Mustang Ranch.

Dialing 911 is a waste of dispatch time - and the offender will be long gone by the time a cop arrives (if one ever does).

You could snag a few Do Not Disturb signs from a hotel window, or buy/make a larger one.

But the fact is - most knockers are too desperate or wasted to consider a sign anyways.

Calling THE MANAGER inside the truck stop - may get you better results. A facefull of PEPPER SPRAY might work just as well.

I always pull the curtains shut. When they're closed I don't recall any knocking. If the curtains are open, I have had homeless Vets, guys with their car down the road without gas money, even a magazine sales person.

There! This is what I wanted to say. Here is the way my "spelling helper" had it:

Lol well I might pay $20 for a magazine sales performance. Closing the curtains does usually help. I did get a persistent knock when I had them closed once though. Maybe it was just bad luck.
