It's a Prime thing. Some other companies have their trucks set up that way also. It's an option you can order when purchasing the truck.

I hate to admit my stupidity, but I didn't know what it was so I pushed it in WY.

I was extremely bored and Old School wouldn't answer his phone. So out of boredom and curiousity I pushed it.

Apparently dispatch called me seconds later and I didn't see so it went unanswered. So my QC went crazy with messages so I finally checked my phone and I had close to a dozen missed calls from dispatch, safety, and some security agency from San Diego.

I immediately called and confessed my sin to him and all was good. Except he had to spend the next 15 minutes letting EVERYONE know that I'm alive.

Oops!

Lesson learned, now hopefully us new guys can learn from this. =)

Years (months or even days) down the road someone may ask me and I'll share this story.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

The only big red buttons I have ever seen are the ones for air release 5th wheel. No big red button of doom here.

I immediately thought of Wren and Stimpy and the jolly candy like button. Yet had no idea what you were talking about. Now I know.

I don't have one. Kind of wish I did. Over the weekend I needed to talk to the weekend dispatch(emphasis on need... they don't get the pleasure of hearing from me unless I really, really need something) only to hear that I was 45th in line with an 'estimated wait time of...'(their program wasn't smart enough to compute a wait time). And all of you folks are sitting there with a hold music bypass button!
