Thanks, I'll check it out. Getting close to starting school and trying to get everything in order
It is difficult to know everything that is or will become important to you in a trucking company until you've lived the life for at least a few months.
But if you seriously study this forum's threads for at least a couple of full days...hopefully more...and study the list of questions in the link you were given, you'll have a great start and big leg up over those who just take the plung on their own.
Once you've done your research, be sure to have a short list of the most important factors to you, and ask each recruiter that you speak with about those first. If a company doesn't offer something that is of key import to you, then you can just make that conversation a short one.
Once you've got your list of potential companies down to two or three or so, take your list of key questions that the recruiters have answered favorably for you and then consult with current drivers for those companies and ask them the same questions. You can find those drivers here and at truck stops. Buy a few guys some coffee or lunch or something. Verify the recruiters answers. There is no perfect company just as there is no perfect driver, but if you put forth the effort you can substantially improve your odds of a good match. Then, perform for the selected company to the very best of your ability for a year or so, and evaluate again. Maybe you'll be lucky and have initially chosen the company that you want to retire with...if not, you'll have your pick of many choices after you've gained some satisfactory experience
