I'm about to start trucking for the first time, and I know for women it can be very sketchy outside and at truck stops. I would plan on working out while on my 30 minute breaks or after I shut down at night, but I don't want to draw any attention to myself or jog too far away from the safety of my truck and have something happen to me. My health is very important and I don't want to get obese on the road. Any ideas ladies?

Yoga? Pull the cab curtains and you should have enough room to do some yoga poses, lift some free weights, use resistance bands, etc. I've even seen some drivers with chin up bars in their trucks.

Me? I generally park in the very back, or if parked at a customer for my break I'll try to get in a nice walk and go exploring. For instance, just last night I was parked at a customer in Johnson City, TN.. I got in at least an hour of walking.. I walked to a Barnes and Noble, a Sam's (was closing.. boo), so I walked another mile or so to a Walmart, found a neat little Greek restaurant along the way, did some shopping, and returned to my truck about an hour after dark.. sketchy? Not so much.

A few weeks ago I parked at a Love's in Ft. Pierce, FL (there are 3) and found a great Peruvian restaurant not too far away.. walked there and had a wonderful dinner.. 2 days later headed back North, stopped in ft. Pierce again.. a different Love's, got permission to drop the trailer and bobtailed to the beach.. parked behind the Navy Seal Museum (which had closed at 4pm.. boo again lol) but I had a nice long walk on the beach.

I just sieze opportunities when they present themselves. Sometimes it's just parking much farther from the building at a truck stop or it's taking a nice walk, whether it's around a neighborhood, a rest area nature path, a beach or a nearby park. I'm sure you will find whatever works for you.

Bobtail:

"Bobtailing" means you are driving a tractor without a trailer attached.

Thank you. That is all very comforting. Do you think Planet Fitness is trucker friendly? I already have a membership there lol.

'Most' Planet Fitness gyms I've run into are in old grocery stores and have more than adequate parking. Before hauling OS/OW I could find a way to get into one without too much, if any hassle. The workout time was great and the shower wait time was 'zero'! Both plusses in my book.

I've decided on running myself, I think it's probably safest to run laps around the truck stop where it's well lit and carry pepper spray in hand and phone in pocket. Download this app on your phone called "Noonlight" you can just hit a button and the app will send your location to and alert the police to get to you as fast as possible, so if someone picks you up the police can follow you and find you.
