I left my job one week ago today. I have been studying at the library and working out everyday. I have been following the DASH diet and my BP is almost to normal. At least it is below 140/90. So I applied today for Prime. I am so excited to start this wonderful journey and hey, if I fall flat then It was not meant to be. But I will not go back to cutting hair just because I am good at it. I don't like it. I want to finally do something I enjoy. Maybe if truck driving doesn't work out I will join the Peace Corps. Now that would be an adventure. We shall see what happens. Studying the high road at the library waiting to hear from someone about my application. Send a prayer up for me please. I REALLY want this. Thanks. Oh and thanks for all your stories. They have been so inspiring . I read them when my brain gets mushy from studying. It refreshes me to focus again on all I need to learn and retain. P.S. Rainy, I put you down as a referral from Donna H's post. Hope you don't mind.

Stephanie, my are crossed for you! Hopefully you will hear back quickly and get the ball rolling. Once I finally told them to go ahead with my application it didn’t take very long at all to get approval. My recruiter is awesome and answers any and all questions I have. He even will set me up to leave here on the 17th instead of the 18th so that I don’t get there so late the night before orientation starts. Like I posted in another thread, I’d rather be rested and stressed than tired and stressed.

Good luck!

I did hear back. And she said I should hear again by early next week on how everything checked out. She said that classes have been so full they are putting a cap on how many can go. I told her I will be ready to start classes on the 27th. That is good to know about getting to go early instead of last minute. You need to be rested and fresh. And Rainy you are welcome. You help so many of us with your stories you deserve any bonus we can kick you. Your info on camparissons made me switch from Roehl to Prime because I want less home time and more work. I did not realize the difference untill you posted it. Thank you. And keep us posted Kim on how it goes for you. Thanks for all the info

Rainy how hard is it to get on with Prime if you have gotten your training somewhere else? We have had recruiters already at the school most have been from companies in my area. I'm trying to research as many as possible. Thank you all for the help!

Hi, sandy. its not hard, but the rules are different. instead of 30k team miles, you need to do 40k. you do get tuition reimbursement but it comes in increments throughout your training.

Also, the pay is $600 per week gross, i believe the first 6 weeks (ask recruiting) then up to $700 gross the rest of your team training.

I do try my best to help. so.many here and at prime helped me. always pay it forward.

As far as hometime, understand it is basically optional. you do mot have to go home, they wont say "hey, you havent been off in 3 months". nope, they will just keep throwing loads at you lol

I have 10 days left before i turn my truck in and go for surgery. im supposed to be back 9/5. so perhaps i will be seeing some of you at the terminal. then im getting an automatic... im gonna feel like a newbie again

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
