I was thinking today about those who drive refrigerated and an odd thought came to mind. I sleep with a fan at night which started out as just keeping cool at night. Now I struggle to sleep at night without a fan on for noise. So my thought was wether there is a comparison between fans and reefer units concerning sleep.

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Think of it as a drone. And multiply it by two if you have an APU. It can shake to rig when it starts & stops but all & all, if you put in the hours driving? Youโ€™ll sleep like a baby regardless of any ambient noise or lack of it. ๐Ÿ˜‡

APU:

Auxiliary Power Unit

On tractor trailers, and APU is a small diesel engine that powers a heat and air conditioning unit while charging the truck's main batteries at the same time. This allows the driver to remain comfortable in the cab and have access to electric power without running the main truck engine.

Having an APU helps save money in fuel costs and saves wear and tear on the main engine, though they tend to be expensive to install and maintain. Therefore only a very small percentage of the trucks on the road today come equipped with an APU.

Cool! Pun intended

Last night I was beat. I had spent the day cleaning the apartment doing laundry, steam cleaning the floors. By the time 10pm rolled around I was done. My five year old had fallen asleep on the way home and we had put her to bed. Usually she would sleep through the night till 4am when she wants you to cook her something only for her to fall back asleep. Last night the wife fell asleep and I told the daughter of she was quite she could watch an hour of her favorite program. Around 11pm she woke me to get my advice on whether or not her ear rings and bracelet matched her sleep wear๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ˜‚
