Trailers don't come with their own locks. At least none that I hauled... When I was hauling reefer I always carried two padlocks. One to lock the trailer and one in case I inadvertently left one on the trailer if I had to drop it. It wasn't a requirement but I didn't want anyone stealing my load.

Theres another thread on this. my company polivy is to lock even the empty trailers. what if someone climbed in the trailer to sleep? what if they put a bomb in it or something?

I've seen a lot of posts on CDL Life on FB recently about thieves breaking in to people's trailers while they're asleep. Are the trailers not locked? What is your responsibility when it comes to protecting locked freight?
