While we are on the Dollar Store subject, is there any difference in Family Dollar and Dollar Store? A Duie Pyle was offering huge bucks, said all unloading is on roller conveyor.
Only difference id assume is some of the products they sell. Most of those stores have same layout and from what ive seen all use the roller system. The downside of the rollers is you need to be lined up perfectly to get them inside their building. Also those trailers are floor loaded and not always stacked the greatest. While you're unloading the risk of product falling on you is quite high. What would bother me most is relying on those inside to unload quickly. If they decide to take their time because they're hourly and dont feel theyre paid enough to deal with that they'll obviously take longer and eat up your clock. All unloading is legally supposed to be logged on duty because you're doing it as opposed to typical OTR work that unloading is logged off duty. Id be interested to hear realistically how the pay for those accounts compares to what a driver that doesnt need to unload pans out. I've been doing food service with the physical aspect for over a year now and the heavy lifting is catching up to me. Got a couple applications out hoping to find something easier on me.
I'll try to remember to get the numbers out of my truck. I left all my paperwork in it for when I go back to school
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
