Today was the type of day that makes or breaks you. Heading West on I-90 in South Dakota. The day started off Cold. As we drove West the weather and roads got worse. The wind was blowing snow, reducing visibility to a few feet. Several hours of slow driving until we pulled into a tiny Pilot for our 30 minute break. Then it was back on the road. I made sure he was good to drive, because I could. He said he was good and away we went. After a few more hours we finally saw some sunshine. Started down a hill and ICE. A Truck on it's side and a cop just on the scene. Did I mention the rode curved to the right at the bottom and that's where the rolled truck was. He kept his cool, dropped it into manual mode and stayed off the brake, as he slowed, I downshifted. The rest of the day was 17 to 23 MPH until we reached the Flying J in Rapid City, SD, about 160 mile before our original plan of where to stop. Here are some pics from today.

Congrats and get ready to shut down if you're going through Wyoming. Wyoming 511 has everything closed north of Casper. My pickup for today gets bumped to Wednesday morning due to the closures.

Glad to hear your student keep his cool!

Started my day in Butte and did a whopping 220 miles before I90 turned into a sheet of ice around Laurel MT. After seeing that a fellow driver had decided to park in the meridian at some weird angle next to an over pass I decided it was time to park.

From what the traffic cameras showing Billings to Buffalo is snow pack and ice.

According to my most recent look at WY 511 app showed the roads open. Hope they will be even better by morning. We will see.

They must have gotten them cleared up pretty quick. I honestly stopped checking after around 1130 because they hadn't changed since early morning and were listed to be closed until this evening.

The worst of the snow has past. We are taking I90 into MT. I have been checking every few hours. Stay safe.
