Quite a few of you will be testing shortly and I am doing some shameful self promotion.

I wrote this article to calm your nerves a bit. In it, you will see that you do not have to be perfect in the beginning to become a great trucker.

The stumbles we have along the way will shape and build our future skills. Some will even give you great conversation and laughter in a year...so relax and try to have fun.

Think of the test as a puzzle to be solved.

Failed the CDL EXAM? Don't Sweat It!

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Hahhaha.

The best thing you can do is say everything. "Slowing at intersection, looking both ways, red car behind me about to pass, 65 tons weight sign"

heck i even read the litter fine signs aloud. lol not only does it calm you and make you concentrate on everything but your nerves...but the examiner knows you are taking everything in.
