I'd believe it. The last truck I had, the first driver assigned to it, experienced a blown hub seal on the truck, at least twice on every one, in the first 70k miles.
Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
Does not surprise me, my father says a lot of new trucks have to go back to dealer for items not done right at the factory.
At least you cought it before they burned up.
I had the problem X3 in 3 days once when I was at Millis Transfer with a 2015? T680. We ended up changing the seal the last time with a new gasket plus we put the red, high-temp form-a-gasket on the cover, then installed and torqued to factory specs. After that, no problems.

I have had the craziest dealings with hub gaskets. Three weeks ago doing my post inspection I found oil all over tractor rear passagager tire. Prime sent me to ta which was 80 miles away. Six days later same tire oil everywhere back to another ta. It was still covered by warranty but lost time. Then today I get to my 90 and this time it’s the drivers side back to ta when I’m suppose to be deadheading home. This guy said it was because it’s a new truck and they weren’t torqued to spec. Not sure about that explanation!
Deadhead:
To drive with an empty trailer. After delivering your load you will deadhead to a shipper to pick up your next load.
