If it were me I'd call them and ask for their thoughts before showing up unannounced.
Operating While Intoxicated
So, as planned on Wednesday my wife and I drove to Cedar Rapids. I'm so glad we did. Now that I know where I will be going I'm a bit less nervious about the journey I am about to start on. Everybody we talked to was kind and friendly and was happy to answer any questions. The atmosphere was very busy with students activity. Then we drove down the street and watched the students at the training pad and driving around the block. We found KFC, had lunch at Arby's, and discovered a Dunkin' Donuts. The CRST complex was bigger and newer than I had expected. The training center, although well used, was clean and nice. All in all it was a positve experience and a nice day. We got home late and drove about 600 miles. My departure date is drawing closer and although I'm nervious I am more excited to get underway. I spend my days now studying the Pre-Trip Inspection and watching videos on backing manurvers. I hope learning to shift won't be too awfully hard!
A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.
Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.
Doug, with the way you are preparing and approaching this new venture in your life, I have no doubt that you will be successful. You are a great example to others.
Thank you Bruce. That means a lot to me.
Sometimes the unknown is the most frightening part of a new phase or adventure. Kudos to you for being proactive in easing your mind and all. We are all excited for you and may is just around the corner.
Thank you Spaceman. The support from everyone around here gives me that extra push in the right direction. It's much appreciated.🙂

I've decided to take a trip this Wednesday to Cedar Rapids to visit the School and the company, CRST, I will be starting with on May 6th. We only live about five hours away in Minnesota, and I think I'd like to see their facilities and maybe meet some of the folks. Any ideas or advice? Let me know if you think this is a good or not, and your general thoughts. Thanks ahead of time.
