Hey guys and gals, maybe you could help me out here. I have a friend who just got a job offer from Hunt. He asked me what I know. I told him I knew nothing about everything, but I had contacts in the industry, lol.

What is J. B. Hunt like to drive for now a days? This guy is a dry van , OTR driver who likes to be out 5 or 6 days then home 2 days. Thanks in advance for any insight!

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Dry Van:

A trailer or truck that that requires no special attention, such as refrigeration, that hauls regular palletted, boxed, or floor-loaded freight. The most common type of trailer in trucking.

They are a super successful trucking company. Their stock is some of the most valuable in this industry. Driving for them is just like driving for Schneider, or Swift, or Prime... their drivers who show a propensity to be productive and have the street smarts to get things done out here are living large. We've had a few members in the past working for J.B. Hunt - each of them did very well and had great things to say about working for them.

It's funny how at different times there's always seemed to be different companies that get picked on and subjected to slander from the self proclaimed expert truckers. Of course it's always the big companies. Back in the day J.B. Hunt was picked on all the time like Swift is today. We've got Marc in here right now, and although he had a little hiccup getting started, he seems to think very highly of his overall experience at J.B. Hunt.

Although Mr. Hunt is deceased now, he was considered a very innovative thinker in our industry, and is almost singlehandedly responsible for expanding our business interactions into markets and partnerships with other forms of transport. The history of their company is really interesting. They started out as a very small operation and are now really big.
