Brett, you eat healthy, but I’ll bet you don’t go hungry.

No, definitely not. That's one of the nice things about eating what is almost a carnivorous diet - it's very filling and satisfying. I do eat a lot of blueberries because I put em in my yogurt. That's about all the fruits or veggies I get.

Brett, I forgot to ask. Do you take any supplements? How do you get your vitamin C?

No, I don't take any supplements.

I looked that up about meats not having vitamin C and came across this interesting article:

Do humans need vitamin C?

Brett, you eat like primitive humans did and there was no obesity among them. (I know because I was there.) Eating healthy is not all that complicated but very few drivers really do it. Sad to see all the heavyweights at truck stops and customers. We have a lot of comments about making top driver money, but how long we live and are able to drive is a big part of the money equation.

My wake up call came at my recent DOT physical were I was tagged for a sleep study because I had a BMI of 35, neck size over 17 (17.25) and elevated BP. My fix is a long term one, but every journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. In just two weeks on my plan, I've already experienced positive results. Being healthy is like driving, you have to have a good and realistic trip plan.

I hope others will post their tips for staying healthy and alert on the road.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.
