I have been driving for a little over a year. How do you all combat depression out here?

Hay, Lanette.... When I used to drive w/ my Hubby, we BOTH took St. John's Wort before bed. Also, chewing gum and eating dried banana chips really helped cheer me up; don't know if there's any scientific proof, but it's something to look into. EXERCISE (even when hubby didn't want to) would build up my endorphins rather well. I hated it, until I got up on it.... ie: a routine. Some of these peeps even tote bicycles with them. Daniel B. perhaps (?) is/was one of them.

Sorry it took so long forsomebody to reply; I'm not currently driving these days; but hubby has 'legally' since 2003.

Hopefully Rainy and/or Susan D. and Phoenix may chime in soon; our veteran (and amazing) female truckers on TT !

Hope you find your happy spot; STAY SAFE, and best wishes~!!

Spotify or iheart radio and go to stand up comedy. So many comedians full shows. Boosts the happy chemicals no problem for me.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

Thank you for the advice. I have ordered a folding bike and am in the process of going back on medication. I think it is that lack of a routine more than anything.

Hi Lanette.... depression is tough because isolation worsens rhe depression. Some Rx are not permitted by some carriers so talk to your companies doctors about meds. Many people come to Prime taking Trazadone as a sleep aid, but this causes issues with getting hired. They get sent home are told to come back with 30 days on something else.

The bike is a great idea as i was considering roller blades lol. maybe i will go for the bike. There is a Leslie Sansone who is "Walk Away The Pounds" videos you could probably find online. You basically walk in place with slight movements that can be done on the truck.

If it is lonliness, why not try teaming? If you have a friend at the company or could bring someone along for a bit as a rider rather tha driver it might help.

I make it a point to get a hotel room from time to time. Then I uber to a movie or restaurant. go swimming. Just break the work routine and get off the truck for a but to feel normal.

I also have my cat Goofball. He is funny but pets have their own challenges cats are easy, feed and litter box and done.

Be careful of vitamin supplements and such tho. really research them. Someone here once took something for Restless Leg Syndrome and tested positive for pot cause it had traces of hemp. she cant get a job now.

Definitely will be trying the comedy channels. So much time to think and feel on stupid stuff.
