In case you weren't aware, Memorial Day is to honor soldiers fallen during their time of service. In other words killed in active duty.
Veterans Day is to honor all current and former military.
Of course it's never a bad time to thank a military member for their service to our country.
Yes I lost a Grandfather and a Great Uncle in WW 2 . However when I think of those that didn’t survive, I can’t but think of the ones that did. Young men barely of age that lived through such fear, horror , death and despair. Each had to have felt a death of part of their souls. That’s why I said they know the real cost of freedom.
Just want to say thanks to all the veterans! Y’all are the ones that know the real price of freedom!
Thank you. By honoring us you honor those who have fallen. There are not many of us left who do NOT know someone who has died in the service of their country.
I lost friends in the 101st Airborne just about 35 years ago. Can't believe it is has been so long.
At 17 years old, I watched (unknowingly) a fellow soldier die. In Boot Camp. He’d just qualified with his rifle. *******s ran him to death. Yep. He was more brave than most of the Drill Sergeants of my company. They were relieved and investigated, but I don’t know the outcome.
Sometimes we don’t realize the enemy may be within.
