That's awesome! What you're about to go through is more stressful than schooling but with how determined you were and refusal to give up to get your license I have 100% faith you can get it done. Take a look at these Items to bring

CDL:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
- Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
- Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
OTR:
Over The Road
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

A regional route hauling simple dry van "essential goods" for Amazon Prime and some Walmart loads. We go 5 to 6 days out then home for 2 days.
Territory covers OR, WA, ID, MT with some loads going as far as NV, AZ and CA. Due to the riots the company has scaled back some on their CA loads for now.
Wanted to give the good news, things are looking up for me.
I am awaiting insurance clearance, background check, the usual if that clears I get my first drug test and then a company drive test.
Question- Any veteran drivers have some advice about what is essential to bring on the road my first time out? I'm considering the Rand McNally truckers maps book. I have work gloves already. My company manager advised I should bring some adjustable wrenches and screw drivers (no problem there I already have those).
Anything else I might bring to make life easier or my home away from home a bit more comfy??
Regional:
Regional Route

Dry Van:
A trailer or truck that that requires no special attention, such as refrigeration, that hauls regular palletted, boxed, or floor-loaded freight. The most common type of trailer in trucking.HOS:
