Okay so back in 2016 I got pulled over while driving with my learner's permit and no adult in the car, the ticket says "operating with the wrong class or endorsements" and it says because I didnt pay it right away I got a 3rd degree suspension but its listed under "Withdrawn" because I paid it finally a few months later I'm guessing. I got my actual license in 2019 and have a clean driving record, I was also able to get my CDP this week with no issues. Does anyone know if this will severely affect my ability to get my CDL or be hired if I can?

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

It doesn't affect your ability to get a CDL. It's likely to cause some issues getting hired.

I've got some questions though. You say...

I got my actual license in 2019

That's three years later. What was going on for 3 whole years? You said you paid the fine.

I paid it finally a few months later

It seems there may be more to this story than you're letting on to. That's okay, but we can't be very helpful without factual and accurate information. Can you help us out? We're here to help you. We don't judge people for their mistakes. God knows we've all made our own share of mistakes, but we may need more information to be helpful.

I had a suspension from 2012-2017 for some insurance issue I don’t even remember. I didn’t know about it until 2017 and got it fixed the next day. I have a clean record other than that. It has caused a couple companies to turn me down but most of them look past it.
