So it has been a journey upto the 6 month+ mark. A few co drivers, a brand new 2021 Freightliner I got in Feburary with 19 miles, and a dedicated route from East L.A. to Ohio and back in a week. One thing I have to admit it can be grueling dealing with the haters and supertruckers sometimes. Most days I am just to tired to argue with them and quietly walk away. This is a lifestyle for sure more than a job. My next goal is to fulfill my contract and go solo. Only real regrets I have is not doing this years ago and not getting an extra mattress as soon as I got my truck.
Congrats!!! i have the same regret about timing. Had I started this years ago, i could be retired by now with my boat in Aruba writing my books. oh well.. i am working on it.
Dedicated Route:
A driver or carrier who transports cargo between regular, prescribed routes. Normally it means a driver will be dedicated to working for one particular customer like Walmart or Home Depot and they will only haul freight for that customer. You'll often hear drivers say something like, "I'm on the Walmart dedicated account."
Dm:
Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager
The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.New Reply:
