Hello guys,I had a DOT medical exam today and when the medical examiner asked me if I drink alcohol I replied yes sometimes I have beer with my friends,so he marked yes at that question. My question is will there be any problem in future if companies ask me if I drink,of course I don’t drink while driving/working,anyway the medical examiner said I’m qualified and gave me my medical card. Just to let you know I am a new clp holder

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

CLP:

Commercial Learner's Permit

Before getting their CDL, commercial drivers will receive their commercial learner's permit (CLP) upon passing the written portion of the CDL exam. They will not have to retake the written exam to get their CDL.

Hi, Lakhvir, and welcome to the TT forum!

Congrats on your progress; and feel free (welcome!) to use all of our informative study guides and information on this site; all free and REAL, of course!

As to your question; here's the answer from the 'green bible...' and IMHO, 'tread lightly.' In the future, stop by and ask us first, perhaps~! ? !

DOT physical and alcohol consumption

Wish you well in your future career; stop back and join in the 'fray!'

Anne :)

I've always answered the alcohol question honestly that on average maybe 2 or 3 beers per month and had no issues. Just answer truthfully. This way you don't need to worry about what lie you told a certain person. Many times getting caught in a lie is looked at as far worse than the incident/act that you were trying to hide.

Awesome job getting the permitdancing.gif

What's the plan for schooling? Have you considered a Paid CDL Training Programs?

CDL:

  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
