Hey guys... i could really use the help!! I just got my CDL 3 weeks ago and today i was applying for a job. The recruiter goes to check my MVR and see i have a citation. I didn’t make plans to be able to pay on it the following day because the suspension is supposed to take place the day after. I go in I pay on a citation that was made for my emissions on my car in my registration. I paid the citation and I was told that they would inform Pendot so that way they would be able to do away with the license suspension. However, PennDOT has informed me that this process typically takes four days and by the time they get to it my license may already be suspended. Will this stop me from getting jobs in the future? I’m really worried as I have never have a licenseBecome suspended before and I otherwise have no criminal background and I have never been in any accidents. Please help I’m worried

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

MVR:

In short, Yes a suspended license would mean you can not legally drive and would therefore affect your employment eligibility. A reinstated license would show on your MVR and most companies do not favor suspended licenses within 5 to 10 years, depending upon the company.

Was your license suspended and how long ago was this?

A suspension hurts you more than the ticket because it says you're not taking care of your license the way you're supposed to. If you get pulled into an inspection and your license is suspended, that's an expensive inconvenience for the company and that's what they're concerned about.

In Pennsylvania if you get an emissions inspection ticket, they'll usually dismiss it if you get it taken care of before the court date. The courts here are also pretty cool about working out a payment plan if you can't pay it all at once. Like everything else, communication is the key. You have to go to the court and explain your situation.

Go to Penndot and find out if your license was actually suspended. If it was, see if there is anything you can do to get it removed since it was a clerical error. Good luck.

Tashawna; nobody said 'for sure' they won't let you reinstate it. ALL the DMV atrocities are lagging, wherefore you may, by the grace of God, get your reinstatement (or payments TCO!) before the suspension goes through. DMV's are all LAGGING in many ways; might work to your favor if you complete everything and anything, on your side...which it sounds like you have.

Make SURE there are no outstanding 'court costs' or 'filing fees' or any oddities like our wonderful state of Ohio, oftentimes has.

Wish you the best, ma'am. Nag Penndot all you want/need/can, and other than that...breathe.

So what happened is i was informed of the citation yesterday. So i went and made a payment plan AND paid in it yesterday, which, The magistrate secretary informed me that because I made that plan with them they would contact pinned up in order to not cancel my license and then I will just continue the payment plan. However the license cancellation is supposed to go into affect today. Pendot told me however they wouldn’t be able to likely process it until Tuesday of next week at which point they will lift the suspension Since I technically address the issue before the license suspension date.So all in all my license will be suspended for about four days

IF I were you.... I'd pay it off in FULL somehow, before Tuesday. Beg, borrow, don't steal. That 'payment plan' seems like it could be what's keeping it open.

Just MHO. Been the wife of a driver for 20 plus, but never had a close conundrum; his nephew (non CDLA) did a few years back; avoided suspension by the skin of his lips, tongue, (teeth?) .... to keep his class C license, and his warehouse job. We actually loaned him the $130 or whatever it was, and he still has his same job.

Again, just my advice; wish you well.
