Welcome aboard Lb N!

What company are you training with? Did they send you home to wait? Give us a few details.

Look, you've got to understand that there has always been a shortage of trainers. Sometimes we have to wait a bit. Right now it is even worse. Covid has scared some people away from training. Even before Covid my company used to beg me to train. It's just something I didn't want to engage in. I teach new drivers all the time here in the forum, and I love doing that. Putting my life in their hands while riding with them in my truck had no appeal to me.

When would you look for another company.

After you've got one year of safe driving under your belt. I understand your frustration, but give us a few more details. How many of your fellow students have gotten a trainer? Has anyone given you an idea when you may get a trainer? Have you asked your company contacts? What are they saying?

What is the top 2 companies with best home time?

Are you serious? LOL, that seems a strange question for a guy who is wanting to get a trainer and get going! How bad are you wanting to be a truck driver?

Waiting on a trainer sux but it’s the times right now as far as home time starting out be prepared to stay out at least 3 weeks at a time for 2 reasons that’s what most companies want! And if you wanna make money you gotta run miles !! That’s trucking and depending on who you are working for you’ll be out with a trainer 6 to 8 weeks but if your wanting to be home every weekend otr isn’t the job for you !!! Some places like dot foods has good home time but you break down your loads at each stop and rework to head off to the next drop otr is burning up miles to make money

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
