Check with your state's DMV. You probably have to do some sort of test in a manual transmission truck that you supply.
The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.
I know, I know, you feel like your wings are clipped or something. Sorry to say this but auto-shift transmissions are what truck fleet owners want. So, it's not really going to limit your money making.
Then, you say, "I lose real control of my truck!" Nahh, you won't.
"... But going down hills? " Don't worryaboutit. Engine retarders work just like they did back in the day. Better, in fact.
Like most of your flack giving buddies, I learned on the 10 speed and drove dancing on the clutch. Then Swift started switching to the auto-shift. After discovering how easy it made my driving life, I got spoiled. Enjoy not worrying about grinding a new gear, Who, and especially don't worry about having so stop during your CDL road test because your lost your gear and had to stop and start shifting over (possible test fail).

Quick question. I got my class A CDL a few months back and tested in an auto transmission. I know, I know... Everyone I knew gave me flack and said I should have tested in a manual so I wouldn't have a restriction on my CDL but didn't have a choice at the time. But any suggestions on what I can do now to get it lifted off my CDL? Can it be done in a matter of days (during home time) or does it take a while? Thanks!
