Well after a year in limbo due to the pandemic I finally got my CDL! I passed the test and started to look around for driving opportunities other than what I was doing (Yard Dog since late 2019). I looked around and was offered a job at Wel. I am extremely excited to begin this new adventure and will be headed to WI for onboarding this Sunday!

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Congratulations Art!

WEL seems to be a great place to drive for. We've had some of their drivers in here before, and they were racking up the miles, and stacking up the money. Stay in touch with us if you can. It would be great to see a diary of your training experience with them.

Day 1 in the books. Was met at the hotel and taken to get OSHA physical then off to the yard. Most of the day was paperwork and knowledge check..I have a great feeling about the company and this job..can't wait to see what's next.
