My husband took a job with Werner in April right out of driving school. Today he got into an accident. He hit his brakes and the truck didn’t stop. He collided with an SUV. (Which was the other persons rental car.) Thankfully no one was hurt. The car was totaled though He wasn’t cited at the scene. & they towed the truck back to the terminal. He met with the insurance adjuster and he was supposed to meet with the safety coordinator. They told him safety was busy and put him in a hotel for the night and said he had to meet with safety tomorrow. Should I still expect for him to be fired for this accident? Would they put him in a hotel for the night to meet with safety just to terminate him? I’m mentally a mess and so new to this I don’t know what to even think. Thank you.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

It's really hard to say. Most companies, after 'any' incident, will want the driver to meet with safety shortly after, before going back on the road.

If this is his first and/or only incident, it's in my opinion he isn't getting fired. They may want to put him back out with a trainer for awhile, since he is still fairly new. That'd be MY guess.

Hope you stop back in & let us know,

Best of luck!

Hope all is well with you & the husband (and Werner!) Heleen ! / Osmiux ~~!!! Papa Pig (our astute member / Werner driver) has some AMAZING diaries, detailing his Werner experiences; some good some.. not so!

Papa Pig & Werner !!!

He has a YouTube channel, as well.

Stopping back to let us know would be great, if you'd find the time!

Thanks as well!
