When I start my day, I log a tractor pre-trip On-Duty for 10-15 minutes. Then, I drive to our trailer drop lot and log a 10 minute pre-trip on the trailer I am taking, and on every trailer I pick up during the day. At the end of my day, I log a 10 minute tractor post trip.

There is no actual length of time required as far as I’m aware.
My company requires 5 minutes pretrip and 10 minutes post trip. But as far as I’m aware there is no set time from FMCSA.
I’m pretty sure I read on some trucking legal page there is no requirement to do an actual pretrip or post trip, just that your equipment has to be serviceable. I have no idea how that works or even if it is accurate.
