I am an experienced OTR driver unfortunately I did something stupid in my car in September of 2020 and received a reckless driving conviction I did my suspension and got my CDL back I've been driving OTR off and on sense 1994 this is the first thing on my record. The problem is that even though I have done everything required by law I have yet to find a company that will hire me, everyone says I must wait three years. Does anyone know of any outfits that would hire me, I live on the east coast of central Florida? I need to get back to work Thank You to anyone that can advise me Kevin E. Sullivan

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

That's almost like two strikes against you. That conviction will be the largest, then your location will be another.

All you can do is apply everywhere, be honest, and see what happens.

Look into Cypress, Navajo, and Armellini, as well. Florida Flats & Florals more/less.

Best wishes!

TransAm will most likely give you a shot. They have decent dedicated accounts out of Florida.
