If you’re not doing the loading/unloading, I’d only log the pre trip and be off duty the rest of the time.

Generally, I do my pretrip off duty. It's just faster for me to do it that way while the eld starts up. As long as you're logged into "on duty" before your drive time you should be fine.
Same disclaimer as Steve. I'm also starting my day on private property and don't have to worry about a DOT officer sitting in the corner trying to catch me.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

A lot of my deliveries I get to the dock the night before. If I am backed into the dock can I log pretrip and unloading together? Example, doors open backed into dock at 8pm. Shipping comes in at 7 am, I go on duty for 30 mins do pretrip and unload or do I have to show 15mins for pretrip then 30 mins for unloading?
