Thanks Anne and Ratpack. I can’t do many videos. I don’t want to put any student in the YouTube without their concent but will try to think of something. Things are going well. I’m always trying to find new techniques when the standard technique doesn’t work. (Everyone learns a different way)

Being out in the sun on the range in ga…. Sometimes I would rather be slinging freight in the back of a DG trailer! It’s hot!!!😂

I BET, man. I hear ya there. Kearsey can probably 'bounce' you her 'release' form, though! Email in her profile, haha!

Well at least you can change your avatar to the REAL you . . . as you cool down!

It was literally 88 today in Ohio, down to 87 at 1813! Grr...ouch.

I’m starting to think you don’t like my avatar! Lol. Anyone who knows the real name knows that ol “oddball” is my spirit animal. “I don’t know what makes me work baby.. I just ride’em 😂 Plus I was a tank crew member for 24 years . Ha!

I will tell y’all a hard truth. I have no problem teaching someone to straight line back. I have no problem teaching the offset part how to offset to the next lane. But I’ll be damned if people that were straight line backing just fine the day before suddenly forget how to SL once they start the offset . 🤷🏻‍♂️

For all fellow trainers out there I found a technique that works well for me. I don’t hang outside the drivers window on the range trying to give instructions. (9 out of 10 times I will say it backwards anyway) I have found that If I get in the cab with the student I can see what they are seeing and am able to talk calmly instead of shouting over the engine. This helps me to more effectively ask them(tell) what they are looking for. That way they stay looking in their mirrors and know what right looks like. When you are down on the ground they tend to look at you and not in their mirrors. Deer in the headlight waiting for the next step. Seeing the lightbulb 💡 go off over there head and the smile that comes after someone who has been struggling with something finally “gets it” makes the job worth it.

Yeah, yeah yeah ... LoLoL ! Okay, Kiefer's daddy, hahaha! (I had a HUGE crush on Kief, back in the 'Flatliner' days!!!)

You & Chief Brody ... and who else ?!?!? with all your celebrity avatars, are so FINE just the way you are, haha!

It's a 'ME' thing; sorry!! Like Kearsey/Rainy . . . I prefer the 'truck' version of her, too.

RE: Teaching backing, et al ?!?!?! Tom didn't teach me... I taught myself. Hands LOW on the wheel... and just 'eke' it the 'other way of where you want it to go.' Seriously! Tanks and flats were short and fixed...and I could SEE, haha! I had an advantage, pulling 38' boats in Florida, though, way before I met Tom. I just despise these dang vans, like the one he brought home. Can't see around it, worth a flip, haha~!

Oh yeah ... Those toy Die Casts our son had, sure helped, too! Buy a 6'pack for your class !! He even got a set of doubles (that I'd never do,) that helped me understand the LTL guys' methods of madness! Tom did that for a year; never went with.

Best to ya, man. Just givin' you some hoopla!

ps: 90 tmrw, and NINE SEVEN on Wednesday !!!! AUUGHHHHH!

LTL:

Less Than Truckload

Refers to carriers that make a lot of smaller pickups and deliveries for multiple customers as opposed to hauling one big load of freight for one customer. This type of hauling is normally done by companies with terminals scattered throughout the country where freight is sorted before being moved on to its destination.

LTL carriers include:

  • FedEx Freight
  • Con-way
  • YRC Freight
  • UPS
  • Old Dominion
  • Estes
  • Yellow-Roadway
  • ABF Freight
  • R+L Carrier

Doubles:

Refers to pulling two trailers at the same time, otherwise known as "pups" or "pup trailers" because they're only about 28 feet long. However there are some states that allow doubles that are each 48 feet in length.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
