I failed a drug test for marijuana about 7+ years ago and stevens trucking school denied me. I didn’t think they would still consider something that was almost 10 years ago, when I was in my early 20s, but I guess so.

Anyhow, I’m looking for a career change to truck driving and a good school, that’s company sponsored to attend. Also, one that won’t hold something so long ago against me. live in Houston, Tx.

Thank you guys for having a platform with no judgment as well.

Was it trucking related? Did you tell them you failed or did they find it in a background check?

I let them know ahead of time. I still gotta call from a recruiter even after this. It was when I first applied for Stevens years ago and I didn’t know anything about truck driving requirements, I went in for the DOT exam and failed the urine test after.

The recruiter ran my back ground and saw that I had failed the urine test back then and said stevens doesn’t accept any failed tests, no matter how long ago, no redemptions for it at all.

Was it trucking related? Did you tell them you failed or did they find it in a background check?

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

HI... This is a legal lawsuit issue. You documented that you failed a drug test. If you have an accident without proving you went through a Substance Abuse Prevention program, the company would be held to a higher liability limit.

Ask the companies what would be required for you to get into their training. Some may have different standards than others.

Apply everywhere. Good luck
