Me and my cousin are looking for a company that offers paid cdl training who will also put us as team drivers. Any suggestions?

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Hi. Almost any training company is going to want teams. However, none of them can OTR train you together. They may be able to give u CDL training together, but not OTR.

CRST is team only, Swift, Prime, Roehl, Stevens. just to name a few. I will answer any Prime questions you have.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Yes. Already formed teams saves them time and money, as well as sexual harassment issues. Companies are begging for already formed teams.

At my company, many spouses will come first and train, then can train the spouse in a team situation.

You have to be sure that both of you can meet all requirements for the company.

Welcome to Trucking Truth, Tracy!

In addition to the links Kearsey sent you for applications, it'd be in your best interest to start here:

Everything you need, and then some .. is above!!

Also, if you'd add your location, at least your state ~ to your profile, it'd help us help you further, in case your state may be one that has limitied hiring from the above companies we've shared with you.

Best wishes, good luck!

~ Anne ~

ps: AFTER you fill out the above links from Kearsey, You could also look at C.R. England, as far as training together. CFI is another option, as well.
