My husband and I are considering starting with Western Express in a few weeks. We would like to know the truth about the company from a real driver, preferably team drivers. Is the pay there, the miles good, ya know just the 411 all drivers need to know before making this kind of commitment.

Western catches a lot of flack. But they are not a bad company. Others will chime in soon. Not sure about there teams. Are you within 3 hours of Mt Airy, Nc? I know of a few team operations out of that area. Covenant out of Chattanooga is a team company also. Back to Western. Talk w Chad Montgomery if he is still a recruiter there. Pretty straight forward guy.

I don't know about Western Express as a company, but I can tell you that from my experience the Western Express drivers have earned their bad reputation.

Saturday I saw a Western Express driver hit the front of another truck while turning left into a truck stop.. The Western Express driver was not even close. He hit the front end of the other truck with the middle of his trailer.

EPU:

Electric Auxiliary Power Units

Electric APUs have started gaining acceptance. These electric APUs use battery packs instead of the diesel engine on traditional APUs as a source of power. The APU's battery pack is charged when the truck is in motion. When the truck is idle, the stored energy in the battery pack is then used to power an air conditioner, heater, and other devices
