Apparently Brett doesn’t answer his emails or he’s just not a punctual kind of guy or he picks and chooses. ..

One thing I’ve learned about the trucking business is I haven’t met to many friendly ppl since I’ve been involved . .. seems like a lot are butthurt or mad because I do agree this business ask a lot of you but doesn’t compensate you for your time or efforts ! Not to mention all the scalping going on plus there is way to much liability and responsibility for the money they want to pay you fellas. ..

At some point you guys are going to have to stand up to this industry if your ever going to gain any ground ! I feel for all of you fellas & I can see from just the very short time I’ve been involved in this business how ****y it can be and to be honest about it I don’t know much at all !

I know everyone is just trying to make a living and doing what needs to be done is hard & real and will effect a lot of ppl ! Just don’t lose site of who the enemy really is and try to extend some grace to the next individual !

Peace out !

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

PS I definitely made a mistake I should’ve done better research my bad ! I started to get my cdl a few month b4 they passed the law about having so many hours of training, that’s why I joined Trucking Truth but I ended up backing out of it because of the liability and responsibilities. .. Trying to hold out thinking and/or hoping things would change in my industry as a welding Inspector ? When it didn’t I went ahead and decided to get my cdl, I knew the money wasn’t going to be near the same but I found out there was a lot that I didn’t know about all the expectations and free time that they expect you to volunteer lol, it’s a joke compared to what I’m used to ! So much so I think I’m just going to go back to welding pipe again. ..

I will say this I do have a new found respect for you fellas. .. My dad drove a truck all his life when he wasn’t working on them. ..

Peace out

Not all trucking jobs are created equal. I’m on track to hit 6 figures this year and I’m only averaging roughly 45 hours a week.. home daily with weekends off. But yeah the OVR stuff you refer to is ridiculous, not the life for me either.

To start with anyone has to love what they are doing for their occupation. I always wanted to be a truck driver from the time my Dad took me along as a little boy.

After high school and a tour in the US Navy I started driving when I was 20 and retired at 62. Back then in the late 60's and early 70's I worked a Teamsters job for big money but after the recession in the early 70's and the oil crisis I was layed off and worked for % and wherever you could.

There wasn't any a/c, p/s, sleepers or refrigerators. You sweated, slept across a piece of plywood and ate in a truckstop if you could afford to.

You didn't seem to care about the pay because you had a steady job and usually full family health care paid by the company.

Most of my jobs paid close to $500 a week back then. During the 80's things improved in the trucks for me. Power steering, a/c and a sleeper at one job so I felt like a super trucker. The pay also was now at least $1000 a week.

Big improvements over the years but being happy in my occupation made for satisfaction and pride in being a truck driver..

No computers just good old paper logs. No computers telling me when to sleep. No electric controls for the engines just mechanical trucks that lasted at least a million miles before an overhaul. No auto transmissions, you learned how to shift two sticks without a clutch.

After my 42 years and 3 million plus safe driving miles I happily retired with my bride of 45 years. Bottom line is to be happy in your choice of employment and if truck driving isn't what you expected it to be just leave but don't be so negative about it.

I'm sorry for the long previous post but I felt like James B. was not happy with his choice of driving a truck.

I stand corrected if I became too winded and stood on a soap box.

You didn’t offend me sir you just told the truth & I respect that more than anything ! Sometimes the truth hurts but this was as good as honey in your mouth, I guess I have had it good all these years, sometimes you don’t know what you got until it’s gone. .. I chose to start driving a truck instead of going back to welding because it can be pretty hot at times and he’ll I thought I graduated from welding to inspecting which was easy street for me but when Covid came in it messed everything up for me and several of the Project Mgrs that I knew and worked with retired because they were going to play all these games wearing a mask/getting tested multiple times a week/getting vaccinated. .. they had plenty of money so they just retired. Anyway long story short, I know your waiting on the short story

Trucking may not be my go to trade lol
