Can you see that rectangular box hanging from the soffit, with the green light? This is at a customer’s loading dock and the only one I’ve personally ever seen. Do you know what it does? I wish these were at every dock door.

Laser lines so you can see in poor light conditions. So cool! I've only been to one place that had those and they had 3 docks lit up with these lines.

Winner Winner! Chicken Dinner!

I wish every place would have these for night time appointments.

Awesome!

And I forgot to add that this facility also has the docks that let them open and close the trailer doors from the inside. Another nice feature.

Got sent back to this facility again, this time at night, so I got a photo of the laser lines. I hope it shows a clear image.

One our P&D drivers said he went to a facility with a system like that, he said the line changed color to yellow if you got close to it or red if your on it or over it.

P&D:

Pickup & Delivery

Local drivers that stay around their area, usually within 100 mile radius of a terminal, picking up and delivering loads.

LTL (Less Than Truckload) carriers for instance will have Linehaul drivers and P&D drivers. The P&D drivers will deliver loads locally from the terminal and pick up loads returning to the terminal. Linehaul drivers will then run truckloads from terminal to terminal.
