I finally crapped out and decided to go on medical leave.

Ive hit 3 years of experience and will not be going back to the DG account. Wouldn't mind taking off several months. Are companies picky with a work gap?

Larry, you and I seem to be on a similar timeline with our careers. I just hit 3 years and went on medical leave. I’m on FMLA (Federal Medical Leave Act). It’s good for 3 months and the employer is required by law to give the employee his job back. That might not apply to your situation if you are going to switch employers anyway. But a two or 3 month time period without a job should not be an issue with any new employer. The long gaps that stretch into one, two three or more years are the gaps that create problems.

BTW, congratulations on doing 3 years on a DG account. That is quite an accomplishment.

Fm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

They pretty much squeezed me out. I was doing 250-400 miles of non pay deadhead miles a week to be able to get home. I'm in the background check at Wal-Mart. 5/2 5/3 5/2 overnight. However the dc is 90 miles away and you slip seat every new week.

Deadhead:

To drive with an empty trailer. After delivering your load you will deadhead to a shipper to pick up your next load.
