I recently “enrolled” in a 20 week program. Im having some doubts, should I back out and look for a 1 month program?
Hello Nikole,
You provide no details of your situation, so nobody can give you any reliable answer. Is the longer program weekends only? Either program would have its pros and cons.
We generally recommend getting your training with a company that brings you in for their own training program and pays you to train. Check out the links for going that route:

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Nikole B., As BK mentioned, it's usually a LOT better, being trained by the company that hires you, than community colleges etc. They ONLY help you to get licensed. Not all actually place you with a job. So why waste 20+ weeks, and the cash they charge, to have a license you can do nothing with?
With Training companies, you have a job as soon as you're done training !! Save the headaches and go with company training. I KNOW, I first went with the states (Calif) WIOA paid training at a local "school" wasted my time. Went with a mega carriers training and had my CDL in 10 days, the 28th day, I was in a trainers truck driver from day 1....Much faster, I just wish, I had entered trucking years earlier than I did!
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Formerly known as the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), the WIOA was established in 1998 to prepare youth, adults and dislocated workers for entry and reentry into the workforce. WIOA training funds are designed to serve laid-off individuals, older youth and adults who are in need of training to enter or reenter the labor market. A lot of truck drivers get funding for their CDL training through WIOA.
A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).
It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.
Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.
