Hmm, I don't know enough to comment on that since I've only been to two types of trucks. And during training in one of those, I wasn't paying attention to that sound dampening at all. With the 2024 Volvo sleeper I'm in now, I've often thought it could be much better, but without being able to really compare one model to another, I don't know if what I have is really good or not.
Of the trucks I've been in, I'd say volvos were the quietest. I personally prefer a truck to sound and feel like a truck, so I'm biased towards the KW as long as it has the Cummins in it.
Exactly Davey !! LOL Reminds me of the 90's when Dodge Rams came out and became popular. They marketed them to lots of women too as did Ford......Had a couple different female customers bring their trucks in for "squeeks and rattles" , etc.....
DUHHHHH it's STILL a truck, not a luxury car. I even wrote on 1 service invoice once "You didn't buy a Lincoln Towncar" bosses wife came out n told me I can't write that ! HA I told her I can write whatever I wanna, it's a FACT lol

The International that I was in had terrible sound insulation. It also had an electric APU and wouldn't let you idle it, so there was no way to drown out the noises of loud reefers and etc. I think the issue is that the LT Internationals have no sound deadening material installed on the body. I've put sound deadening tape on a car truck after having a 10" sub installed, so I know how much of a difference it can make in terms of reducing vibration.
Which trucks have the best insulation in your experience?
Reefer:
A refrigerated trailer.
APU:
Auxiliary Power Unit
On tractor trailers, and APU is a small diesel engine that powers a heat and air conditioning unit while charging the truck's main batteries at the same time. This allows the driver to remain comfortable in the cab and have access to electric power without running the main truck engine.
Having an APU helps save money in fuel costs and saves wear and tear on the main engine, though they tend to be expensive to install and maintain. Therefore only a very small percentage of the trucks on the road today come equipped with an APU.
