And that is why you stay off the parkway.

Dave

All those parkways on Long Island are "Trucks Prohibited" for that very reason - low bridge clearance. Driver will be lucky if he didn't end up in handcuffs for this.

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

A trucker driving along on the freeway notices a road sign in the distance that reads 'Low Bridge Ahead.'

Sure enough, the trucker gets stuck under the bridge. Cars are backed up for miles.

Finally, a police officer arrives at the scene. The cop gets out of his cruiser and walksaround to the truck driver. He puts his hands on his hips and remarks, "Looks like you got stuck, huh?"

The trucker replies sarcastically, "No, officer, actually I was delivering this bridge and ran out of gas

Truck hits overpass on Long Island Even with a sign showing a bridge height of 10' 5" this truck just smashes right into the bridge.

-Just another very good reason why people have the an attitude of "dumb trucker" when it comes to things like that. they don't realize or care that we have millions of safe drivers out here. Its that one bad involvement that skews most peoples attitude.
