Pulling Into Spots

Okay, I'm sitting at this Pilot in Stanfield, Oregon and I find it really annoying when Drivers pull into a spot instead of backing in. Do they not realize that it can be difficult for other drivers to pull out when they stick their tails out so far and when they go to back out they expect everyone to yield for them to get out.

Please stop... Take the time to back in.

In a huge TA or Petro parking lot I think it's fine. But at that specific Pilot that's terrible. That place is way too tight to be pulling out of a parking spot and with all that traffic there good luck finding anyone willing to yield to you.

Plus like you said, the trailer sticks out quiet a bit, which will make it extremely tough for someone to back into them. That place is a mess.

Which will make it extremely tough for someone to back into the parking spots on both sides of the trailer.

*correction!

I prefer to always back in. It's just easier all around. Besides it keeps me in practice. I am not at all modest when I say if a trailer can physically fit in the space I can put it there even with inches to spare. I would not go so far say to say I am a backing GOD but I am close...lol. I love backing up. We only spend less than 1% of our driving going in reverse. That not alot. The more practice you can get the better you will become.

Its the same for the Loves in Tacoma, WA.. its a very small place and I've seen drivers pull into the spots... I've pulled into a few stops like that my self, Only because I was too tired to back and didn't want to risk it and because I slept during the day which is less crowded at some places..

Yea I would go there instead of Swifts Sumner, WA terminal... Place is mostley ment for heavy haulers (90k plus).. I found I got better loads just staying there instead...

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

I understand your frustration completely. A few weeks ago I was in a small Pilot in PA. I had a spot on the end inside corner of the lot. I usually avoid these, however being out of hours and that being the only spot....Well ya do what ya got to. I got parked and I guess the truck in the opposing corner finished his break and took off way before I woke up. I opened the curtains and found a white truck pulled into that spot. His trailer was blocking me from getting out. Not being the bashful type I went and knocked on the door. The guy was at least very good about it and let me out without any grief. I did get a kick out of his first response though..."I'm blocking you, how far are me front wheels from the curb". That response made me wonder awhile.....
