Hello, everyone! This is my first forum so I'll do my best to keep making these and asking questions. I will be attending Fort Scott Community College Trucking School in Fort Scott, Kansas this September and will be graduating 2 days after I turn 21. I already pre-qualified for Melton and Werner, plus I'm still talking a lot with TMC and Maverick etc., but if worse comes to worse, who should I go with??? Melton or Werner? By the way I live in Fort Scott, Kansas if that plays a factor..

Do you want to haul dryvan or a flatbed? That should answer your question because that's really the only difference between the two.

Dryvan:

A trailer or truck that that requires no special attention, such as refrigeration, that hauls regular palletted, boxed, or floor-loaded freight. The most common type of trailer in trucking.

Flatbed, but honestly I'll do anything to get my foot in the door and get on to the better company, pay, and life. I am fully committed to this career, even though I am just 20, and I WILL do what it takes to succeed.. I just want to be pointed in the right direction for the best starting out company or someone who hires right out of college or schooling where I could spend my career at happily.

I have never driven but from my research between werner and Melton as long as you want flat bed it's Melton hands down.

I also started days after turning 21 so I was in your shoes.

If you want to do flatbed then go for it. You'll spend a year with Werner with flatbedding on your mind. If you want to do flatbed then do flatbed.

It's all about going to the company that fits your needs. Werner fits your needs except they don't do flatbed. Melton fits your needs plus they also haul the freight you want to haul.

Thank you, Daniel. I love hearing points of views that have been through what I am going through. So I'm guessing from everyone's comments, I am not the smartest for comparing these two companies? lol. I just heard that both r very nice starting your career companies.

Dang you're looking really far into the future! Just like me!

You should hang around on TT more often. I'm surrounded by old people and need a young guy or two here so that I won't be too outnumbered.
