OMG that's awful. Really sorry to hear about that with your friends. Hopefully that will help people put into perspective just how risky this job can be and how attentive you must remain at all times. Just when you think everything is going as smoothly as it can go something happens out of the blue.
Most of the worst wrecks I've seen over the years were in beautiful weather and light traffic. The beautiful conditions give people a false sense of control and security. They think everything is fine and they let their guard down. When something happens they're not prepared for it like they should be.
Hopefully drivers will read about your friends and be a little more vigilant today. Maybe lives will be saved because of it.
A tanker ran into a bridge support here in Nashville early yesterday morning. He had been with the company for decades, so I hear.
He was carrying gasoline and nearly destroyed the entire bridge in the process. The huge I beam girders were completely warped on the bridge. Obviously the driver is dead.
So, I would assume, he either fell asleep or had a medical situation disable him. We may never know. They will only be able to use dental records for identification of the driver.
This is a dangerous gig we are venturing into ...
Be careful out there.
Man, what a bummer. I almost hit a dummy pulling a trailer parked somewhat on the shoulder at the 24/65 split construction zone on the NE side around 1am this morning. He was parked on the side of 24 at the curve heading toward Clarksville with no lights at all on. If I wasn't paying close attention I wouldn't be here.
On a funny/nasty/disturbing note, about 15 miles west of there a black sedan pulled up beside me in the hammer lane. He had his dome light on, was completely nude and was, well, you get the idea. Me and another driver had some laughs, but I was also ****ed. What if kids were in a van or something and this pos pulled up? The things we see that we can't unsee. Not cool.
OK ... that is check mark on the "Why not to be a Truck Driver" column !! lol

Hi,
there was a tragic accident near El Paso, TX where two truck drivers lost their lives. The truck rolled over and caught fire. It burned and the my friends burned to death in the flames.
The reason the truck rolled over wasn't going to fast around the curve or turn, but a cow stood in the middle of the highway. The driver was so surprised that he instead of going ahead tried to steer around the cow, but the speed was too high and cause the lethal rollover.
