Just curious if any of you guys know what the DOT med rules are on things like perscription sleeping pills

Just wondering if you are allowed to take them on the 10 hour breaks or if its something i will have to live without.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

I know you cannot be taking Ambien or the generic equivalent. You could try melatonin to see if it will help. It is what our bodies produce naturally to help us sleep. I would start with 3mg tabs and if that doesn't help there are 5mg ones too. Good luck!

I take Soviet which is an over the counter sleeping aide but works for me. I would not want something heavier cause at a moments notice I may have to get up and need to help out with the truck and can't afford to be drowsy. I use it to quite my mind and keep it from racing till I fall asleep cause if I did not take it I can and have been up for days while at home on home time.

i have ADD, always have and my mind races UNLESS i have something to focus like driving, so when i am idle my mind bounces to everything. I'll look in to Soviet thanks

Guy H: I am so not going to hijack this sleeping pill topic, but the fact that your phone picks words you don't choose and in such a manner just cracked me up. LOL

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
