Editor's Note: We have an excellent guide called How Much Does a Class A CDL Cost?

At Trucking Truth we also prefer paid CDL training over private CDL training

Could someone please how much would cost to attend 4 weeks or 160 hours CDL School? Thank you.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

I would guess about 4k +/- 1K depending on location, quality, amenities, etc.

Thank you Jeff, I would prefer to take -1K rather then +1K :)

It totally depends on what school, in what location and as Jeff said what is included. If you go on top of the page you can click on schools and check it out. There are a lot of variables, lodging, food etc. One in Co. cost $1800. another in NC. cost $2800. both have no lodging, figure what a hotel is going to cost you for 3 to 4 weeks. Good Luck

Thank you Thomas.

Smith and Solomon CDL Training is 3750 to obtain your CDL-A. It is a 4-6 week course (if you are proficient), and you get a total of 160 hrs. Also, alot of companies accept a recent grad from Smith and Solomon.
