Rohel was one of them indeed, thank you very much, sir
I have been hearing a lot of decent things about Rohel, whereas compared to the things i've heard about Swift and a lot of other companies (who hire new drivers after their CDL training ) which were a lot of times bad. What are your guys opinions about Rohel for a new driver? Also, they mentioned on their website that I need to get a special passport so I can get into the Canadian border... does anybody know if they get us that during the time we are in schooling?
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
From what I've read Roehl has some of the best home time packaged available. As far as Canada, all you need is a passport. You can fill out the paperwork at your local court house or treasurer. I don't know about your state but in Iowa it cost around $100 and takes a few weeks to get in the mail.
For a Passport you can either print off a copy of the form from the Gov. website or just go to your major post office and they have the forms there, you will also need a picture for it which they also do, for a fee. There is ID required, birth certif. etc but it's easy, I had mine back in 21/2 weeks. As for Roehl a crap load of people from here have gone with them, Wine Taster has an excellent diary on here of his experience that you should look at, PJ is another that has been that route. One thing to note on the Passport, they want your original birth certificate,( they will return it with your passport) but remember the timing of this incase you are going to also need it for school. Best of Luck, MRC
Thanks for all the help guys ! !
For what it's worth, i know a guy (lol classic line) who drove for Roehl. for a few years, he is the reason i went with them. Their safety record is top notch, he had many stories of issues being resolved very quickly and acceptably, (is that a word lol) Currently going through the training if you care to read a lil of what's going on its onto the diaries page, While they don't offer paid schooling as some others do, i will get paid during my phase 2 training at 90dollars a day every day i am available to work. My interactions so far with them have been stellar, Responses with my recruiter have been immediate. I'm out of new York, so the passport. Is actually an enhanced license... Is that an option for you? Much cheaper. On a personal level, after my research of lots of different companies, Roehl came out on top.

Thanks for the response. You mention that they dont have the paid schooling... i was under the impression that they do because they were in the trucking schools section of this website and it says the do the CDL company sponsored training? im confused now lol. I guess I just have to wait until tomorrow after labor day, to get a response from a recruiter or something. Thanks anyways!
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A Company-Sponsored Training Program is a school that is owned and operated by a trucking company.
The schooling often requires little or no money up front. Instead of paying up-front tuition you will sign an agreement to work for the company for a specified amount of time after graduation, usually around a year, at a slightly lower rate of pay in order to pay for the training.
If you choose to quit working for the company before your year is up, they will normally require you to pay back a prorated amount of money for the schooling. The amount you pay back will be comparable to what you would have paid if you went to an independently owned school.
Company-sponsored training can be an excellent way to get your career underway if you can't afford the tuition up front for private schooling.
Slight misunderstanding, They pay the school, you do not collect any kind of paycheck during this phase of training. Hope that clears it up a lil

I was wondering if anybody knew if the Rohel CDL training was paid by the company like many others? It's the weekend so I cant contact a recuriter. But if anybody knows that would be great. Based on what I read, which was very little, it sounded as if they only pay you back if you pay out of pocket... but i am not sure. Any help would be great. I was just wondering if it was like the Swift CDL company sponsored training where they pay you back eventually and there is no out of pocket expenses. Thanks in advance.
