So, I was just hired by Swift and accepted into their academy at Richmond, VA. I was able to login to their training website on Friday and Saturday. Now, I can't login. Is this a bad thing? I'm really psyched about starting my career.
Did you complete the online training?
If so that may be why, if you didn't, contact your recruiter could be something with their system..
Also have you tried to refresh your cashed? Ctrl +F5 will do the trick, may also want to try deleting cookies/cashe.. Google how to do this, every browser is different.
Thanks for your reply. I did try emptying the cache and cookies but still the same thing. :-( Unfortunately, I did not complete everything as I am still working my way through the second module. My recruiter is off today but another one gave me a number for technical support as they use a third party. As soon as their call center opens, I'll get this resolved. I'm aiming to take the permit test by Friday.
There was a big reboot this weekend of thousands of websites because of some updates needed to the networking infrastructure. It's possible their website was one of em and hasn't combed through the problems after the reboot.

Matt, if you're planning on taking the test this Friday you need to use our High Road Training Program to prepare for it. That's exactly what it's for. Here's how it breaks down:
To Get Your CDL Permit:
- Rules & Regulations
- Driving Safely
- Transporting Cargo Safely
- Air Brakes
- Combination Vehicles
- Pre-Trip Inspection
- Driving Exam
To get your CDL endorsements which are optional but we highly recommend you get:
- Transporting Passengers
- Doubles And Triples
- Tankers
- Hazardous Materials
And two sections we've built ourselves with info you'll need for everyday life on the road but the manual doesn't really cover it:
- Logbook
- Weight & Balance
Go through all of the sections for the permit. You'll blast through the written exams with great scores. As of this time almost 8,000 people have used our High Road program to prepare for their CDL permit exam and all of the endorsement exams and it's rock solid. I can say with full confidence it's 1000 times better than Swift's online program for exam preparation.
Pre-trip Inspection:
A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.
Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.
CDL:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
- Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
- Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
Logbook:
A written or electronic record of a driver's duty status which must be maintained at all times. The driver records the amount of time spent driving, on-duty not driving, in the sleeper berth, or off duty. The enforcement of the Hours Of Service Rules (HOS) are based upon the entries put in a driver's logbook.
Combination Vehicle:
A vehicle with two separate parts - the power unit (tractor) and the trailer. Tractor-trailers are considered combination vehicles.
Doubles:
Refers to pulling two trailers at the same time, otherwise known as "pups" or "pup trailers" because they're only about 28 feet long. However there are some states that allow doubles that are each 48 feet in length.

Oh you'll love it! There's nothing out there like it when it comes to memorizing such a large amount of information.

One of the best resources on the interhighway. Well worth it. It will go along with what your doing with Swift and somethings may be worded differently in PA's manual but comes out the same in the end. Just watch for the re-worded questions when you take the test.

I used to work in IT/web development before deciding to switch industries halfway through my career. I wouldn't be concerned. Chances are that they're upgrading or doing some maintenance to the network internally. Contact your recruiter to get it figured out, but don't stress out too much :)
