Again, thanks Daniel :)

I'll give TDA a call, but I was looking in the direction of company sponsored schools because I don't have any funds for tuition, and have read from some posts here and after a google search of how long it takes sometimes to get approved for WIA for instance. And unless Swift or Central for instance wrote TDA a check for my tuition, I couldn't pay and then wait for reimbursement. But, I'll give em call and see. I'd really rather get to work sooner than later. But, in any case, I'll see you on the road. Thanks, Deb

You're misunderstanding it. TDA is a private school but also works with Central. Meaning if you sign a 1 year contract to work for central then you won't have to pay, and if you do it'll be a super small amount taken out each paycheck. Call them for details.

I would look at local training schools (in community schools or an independent approved one) that may not be a company sponsored one. I called a local private school and they referred me to a grant the employment office had that is paying for my tuition in full, I think the grant I got that is paying for my school is a federal grant administered through the federal government and while there was paperwork I got in less then two weeks. I'm not sure if you can find this program in California or not but it's worth looking into.

Also as for company programs you could look at Knight transportation and Swift, they both are based in Phoenix not to far and both look like superb programs. Good luck!

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

In reply to Daniel, At TDA it is mentioned that they do not housing during schooling, and that housing in the area is about $800-900 monthly. Is this also covered/or paid by Central? Again, I'm calling TDA in the morning and will ask them about this. Thanks

Just thought, staying in a motel will be much cheaper, but again, will find out if Central takes care of that. All of course for me to repay later.
