Hi All! Just finished reading Brett's book online straight through in one sitting (the free version if there's a difference) and it's now 3:23 AM EDT. I just registered to this site about 30 minutes ago and I guess I really might be interested in a career change 'cause after reading Brett's book (Hi Brett!) I read the first couple pages of the General Forum discussions and still felt like writing this post. Just wanted to say this site seems excellent so far and I am looking forward to reading as much as I can again tomorrow and thank you to all that contribute. If I do decide to seriously pursue this thing I can already tell my decision will be heavily influenced by what you all have to say as I read further. So, thank you all again.

Hey! Welcome man!

I honestly did the same thing, along with a couple YouTube videos xD .. Read some of the CDL training diaries and blogs, too. They're really interesting!

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Thanks guys! CR England recruiter already called me this morning 'cause I put in an application on a whim a couple days ago to see what would happen and if I would get some info. Their partner training school that was closest to me was booked up so I wasn't ask to commit right on the spot. I definitely got the sense that I am about to be put through a meat grinder, but because of you guys I was already prepared for it. Well I got more research/reading to do! Oh and thanks for the replies, I feel special HAHA!
