Now that's funny!
The sad part though is its true. Drivers are so obsessed with getting ahead of whatever is in front of them. Perhaps its an ego thing? I learned early to pay attention to the speed of other trucks so as to not hold someone up or know who I can pass and when. My current truck is governed at 70 so I'm in pretty good shape most of the time.
I would also like to add that if you are attempting to climb a hill and lose power during a pass, then please move into the damn climbing lane and let us trucks that are light enough and have more power AND are carrying lots of momentum get by you so we are not forced to slow to a crawl like you. This happens all to often for me when I'm going to pass the entire lane of climbing trucks and one decides that he should TRY to pass another slow mover. Just don't please. You Probably won't complete the pass before you reach the peak anyway.
Unless I'm empty (or bobtail) I'm always in the far right lane. I have no delusions of grandeur.
"Bobtailing" means you are driving a tractor without a trailer attached.
I had a prime flat bed block me from passing him for nearly 100 miles the other night. I would get behind him he would drop to 59 I would to pass and magically he could go faster then 62.

Sorry, I was really bored.

...of other companies. I realize that getting passed by a Swift truck is a source of intense shame. But if you're driving slow enough that my underpowered/speed-limited truck is catching up to you, I'm going to attempt to pass you. Also, I can see you in your mirror when you look over and realize, "Oh no, it's a Swift truck. I better dip into this wealth of power/speed I have in reserve and get back in front." Which you the do...then slow back down again so I start creeping up on your trailer....again.
I can't count the number of times this has happened to me, and I've only been on the road solo for less than 2 full months.
Honestly, if you aren't going to actually go faster than my limited 62 mph, just let me pass you. I need to use all my governed speed to try and make my miles per day.
