I would like to start a tech thread on this unit. It seems to be the most popular and if things go wrong, like now, we can bounce ideas off each other and get back to work.

I have a strange problem ever since I updated the software and maps on my TND 720. If I bring up a destination, it will load fine and find a route, but then after a minute or so, the following prompt will come up.

" No legal route could be found! Either there is no road connection available between your origin & destination, or you settings for weight, height, etc. in Truck info need to be changed "

I can navigate to some cities by using the "City Center" function, but not all. The problem persists even when "car" is selected in prefs.

You will find a reset button on the unit. Once you reset the unit, you will be able to update it again and hopefully resolve the issue. If not, contact Rand McNally tech support for further assistance.

Oh, Lord !! ...anything but the reset button! lol

I will try everything before that... I have the updated maps on a Micro SD and I'm not sure if complete chaos will develop... What does it "reset" to? Factory defaults? ...and then ignore the new maps? What if it adds on to the SD chip and then you have the whole redundant file / PC nightmare...

Just trying to see if anyone else had the same problem with the latest update.. I will have tech support on the phone with me before I start going hardcore... then I can blame someone! lol

AJ, I updated about a month ago, and never had that message pop up, either before or after I updated. I really haven't had any technical hiccups w/ my unit, save for it acting like a complete moron at times and giving me REALLY suspect directions. You're smart enough to know not to follow it blindly. Either way, I'll know where I can post any future issues. Hope you get your issue resolved.

You may have gotten a bad copy of the update. Factory reset may fix it. Plug it back into your pc and see if you can re download the update. May need to call tech support.

6 String.... did you get the big update where you had to put the new maps on an Micro SD chip?

Mine is hopelessly corrupted now.... I don't have time to mess with downloads and tech support, so I'm just going to send it the factory to get zapped and clean updated.. will do next hometime break...

hope all is well with you, bra

reset does nothing for me, I was hoping to restore an old backup, but that is just the data. Once the software is updated, there is no going back to prior OS....

Off to the factory it goes... I just can't spare the time or aggravation.

In the mean time , I will get by with Google Maps and this CoPilot thing that is on my Truck PC....

Lord I hate proprietary computer systems - you simply have no clue what the thing is doing...
