Old School - do you listen to music while driving?

"..have been to 47 of the lower 48 and crossed from coast-to-coast 16 times ... haven't been bored yet ..."

That's awesome! Who do you drive for, if you don't mind me asking?

Yes I do, but only on a limited basis. I am a musician and really enjoy a lot of different types of music, but I still find that it tires me when I'm on the road.

I didn't know that you are a musician. What instruments do you play? I'm a musician too.

What instruments do you play?

Guitar, piano, and blow some blues harp.

If you want to not be bored, you need to haul a mixed load of whatever small stuff you can find on a flatbed from Spokane to Missoula at night. That rough road will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole trip. You spend more time watching your mirrors than looking forward expecting a strap to break or the load to shift.

Oh and I forgot, do this with a truck that has walking beam suspension instead of air ride. Makes all those little bumps seem huge. For those that have never seen or driven one, the suspension consists of rubber bushings and pads. The only reason they are not just bolted to the frame is they need them to move up and down... LOL

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

I am planning on thinking in Spanish my first year or two. No estoy aburrido durante la conducción. No te preocupes ,Usted será ocupado.

That post card is very true lol. With the exception of the wind farm north of Lafayette. I run a lot of the same sections of highways but never get bored. Granted at night it's not as exciting because you can't see as much but coming through the mountains and seeing a big city all lit up really is amazing. You're looking down in a valley and it resembles a field full of fireflies.

Hey Robert, ever come into Albuquerque on a clear, cold night? Talk about a field of fireflies! One of the most beautiful cities at night, down in a bowl surrounded by mountains ...
